The Mock Panel Review will provide participants with the opportunity to serve as reviewers on a mock panel and review a set of CAREER proposals. Prior to the session, as pre-work, participants will be required to a view a series of five pre-recorded video modules that introduce the NSF panel review process and address specific proposal aspects that are typically focused on during the proposal review and selection process. During the live mock panel review session, participants will have four hours to review a set of four to six CAREER proposals, discussing the proposal, formulating and/or submitting a review, and then putting the proposal in a ranked category. The session will culminate with a report out, where the results from each breakout room will be shared with the full group of workshop participants.
All interested individuals must apply here. All applicants will be eligible to join Days 1 and 3. A review and selection process will be implemented to determine the final 300 participants for Day 2’s Mock Panel Review. These participants will be selected from the larger applicant pool, using existing applications as the basis for review and selection. Individuals interested in participating in the Mock Panel Review will not be asked or required to submit additional application materials.
Applicants invited to participate in Day 2’s Mock Panel Review will be charged a $100 registration fee. Registration stipends are available and will be available for a limited number of faculty members from low-resourced institutions.
There is no registration fee for individuals attending only Days 1 and 3 of the workshop.
